  • 1 year ago today I took a leap of faith and started my own Osteopathy business. Reform Osteopathy & Pilates was born and the leap of faith reminds me everyday to not sit back and think “what if” but rather to have a crack at anything life permits 🙇🏽‍♀️⭐️
  • STRETCHING  YES stretching is worth the time spent; Harvard University recognised that stretching can improve flexibility which then in turn can improve range of motion.  We need to be stretching at a minimum 3 times per week to maintain the flexibility benefits of stretching

  • FEET ARE THE BODIES NATURAL SHOCK ABSORBERS 
All too often people are complaining of foot pain. Unfortunately in today’s world we are wearing shoes a large proportion of the day and never expose our feet to contoured surfaces. 
studies that reveal the damage shoes are doing to our feet; in particular, that we humans had far healthier feet prior to the advent of shoes.  Podiatrist Dr. William A. Rossi said it all when he wrote, “It took 4 million years to develop our unique human foot and our consequent distinctive form of gait… in only a few thousand years, and with one carelessly designed instrument, our shoes, we have warped the pure anatomical form of human gait, obstructing its engineering efficiency, afflicting it with strains and stresses and denying it its natural grace of form and ease of movement head to foot  What am I trying to say? Go barefoot today!!

We look “above and below” as Osteo’s we understand the body works in unison. If one part of your body is under performing, causing you pain or discomfort we can count on the fact your body creates compensatory patterns that may be found far from the site of pain. To create long term, effective relief we need to address these compensations and educate you. Yes, short term relief may  exist by treating the exact site of pain but we are osteos we have to keep searching 🔬
  • HOW DO YOU BECOME AN OSTEOPATH?⁣

In Australia osteopaths complete a minimum of 5 years full time study to become a Dr of Osteopathy. For me this meant a 5 year double degree in subjects such as microbiology, anatomy, exercise rehab, hand on treatment skills amongst numerous more! As osteopaths we have to complete “continued professional development” each year to broaden our knowledge and deepen our understanding. One of the most important things for me is acknowledging the learning will never end, all those that walk into the treatment room never cease to amaze me, I am continually in awe of the human body - it’s INCREDIBLE
